Jose Miguel Araujo has been practicing law in Queens since 2001. Mr. Araujo graduated from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, with a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. He then went on to attend CUNY School of Law, from which he graduated in 2000 with Juris Doctorate Degree. Thereafter, he started his career as a solo practioner working in various areas of law which includes, Elder Law, Criminal Law, Wills, Trust and Estates. Mr. Araujo until recently had been volunteering for the Queens County Democratic Headquarters on their law committee.
Jose has recently been given the honor of representing the voters of Queens County though his appointment as the Commissioner of Queens County Board of Elections. At his current position he sits with nine other commissioners representing a bipartism team of individuals whom ensure that every voter is represented in the most important right established by our founding fathers. Jose was given the privilege to oversee an historical election that bought this county into a new era and gave hope to millions of our children, that they too can make history.
Jose is also a Court Examiner in Queens County having been appointed by the Appellate Division, 2nd Department, where he works to protect the physical well being of incapacitated individuals, and to safeguard their financial assets to provide for their long term care.
Jose has also been very active on the local attorney bar association. He is on Wills Trust & Estates and Elderly & Disabled Committees of the Queens County Bar Association. He is also a member of the very prestigious 11th District Independent Judicial Screening Committee having been appointed by the Presiding Justice of the Appellate Division of the Second Department, the Honorable Gail Prudente. There he sits on a panel interviewing candidates for the judicial bench for Queens County for both the Civil and Supreme Courts.
Jose, who lives in East Elmhurst, is also a true family man. He is married to Rita and they have four children together, Ricardo, Ariel, Justen and Joel.
